Like you, Landon Bennett is an ever-evolving product of his experience and environment. Whether channeled through his unconscious, subconscious, or conscious mind, Bennett's physical embodiment is his primary medium throughout his diverse, yet cohesive collection of works.
Landon is heavily influenced by prophetic dreams, his lifelong study of theosophy and religion, an early life obsession with logos, symbology, and the likes of storytelling, yet still can't read an analog clock.
Cyclical themes of reclamation, resurrection, transmutation, and especially what lies in between, demarcate Landon Bennett's life as art and art as life.
With virtuosity, Landon most prominently renders with: acrylics, oils, dyes, washes, pigments, and poetry onto canvas. Often utilizing "trash," forgotten family letters, and those hand-knit table doilies you threw away, nothing is safe, unless becoming art is.
It's not uncommon to see Landon painting on raw linens, assorted cotton canvas, bedsheets, tapestries, shower curtains, box springs mattresses, bodies, street corners, and any door you'd like to close in his face.
"This is Avant Garbage."
While living in his nonlocal reality, Landon Bennett seeks merely to show up, thus allowing the patiently awaiting inspiration to strike so that Landon can strike back with tenacity. This showcase of transference of the powers that be, through the vessel of Landon Bennett as a bridge, is the ever-raging river that pours from Landon into his art. Still, Landon never fails to bite his fingernails without even realizing it.
Paradoxically non-patronizing, yet eyebrow-raising worthy, Landon Bennett cares foremost about "his" ever-evolving, highly nuanced, artistic process, by which he's guided into the unknown.
Landon bows to the precarious cycle of surrender, showing up to work—and then remembering to play.
Landon's unapologetic display of channeled creativity, through his prolific devotion to the arts, alongside his ironic veneration for his dreams and desires, has proven quintessential in his emergence as an outsider artist.
"I've always been that kid drawing in class."
However, it was not until 2020 that Landon picked up the paint while earning his degree at the University of Georgia. Georgia native and primarily self-taught, Landon is multidisciplinary.
Landon Bennett wears the label of "outsider artist" and whatever other label anyone would like to tag to his persona, on his sleeve in the form of his innovative, fresh, meta-modern, folk fine art.
"My work lives to move you..."
"Where? that's up to you, too."
"You don't need to know how electricity works to use it."
See Landon Bennett for who you are.
A divine reflection.
